Timberland Decks

Est. 2009 — Pacific Northwest

A studio for the outdoor room.

Timberland Decks began in a two-truck garage in Snohomish. Fifteen years later we’re still a small, senior team — because the decks worth building take the kind of attention only a small shop can give.

Our story

Chris Dockstader started Timberland after a decade framing custom homes. He’d watched too many beautiful houses paired with tired, rot-prone decks bought as an afterthought. The premise was simple: treat the deck like architecture, not like a bolt-on.

Today we run two build crews across King and Snohomish counties. Every project is led by a senior carpenter, drawn in-house by our design lead, and inspected against a 42-point quality checklist before we call it done.

We turn down more work than we take. That’s on purpose — it’s how we protect the schedule, the craftsmanship, and the reason clients keep sending their neighbors our way.

What we believe
about building outside.

01

Craft over shortcut

Every joist, ledger, and railing detail is engineered — not improvised. We build the way we’d build for our own home.

02

One crew, one standard

No subcontractors. The lead carpenter you meet on day one is the same person handing you the keys on day ninety.

03

Materials that outlive the mortgage

We specify Ipe, western red cedar, and top-tier composites — never the cheapest board on the yard.

04

Transparent from bid to build

Line-item proposals, weekly progress photos, and a fixed schedule. You always know what’s next.

Client Reviews

The word from
the neighborhood.

★★★★★

“Chris and his crew were on time every day, cleaned up every night, and delivered a deck that’s the nicest room in our house. Zero surprises on the invoice.”

★★★★★

“We interviewed four builders. Timberland was the only one who spent time in the yard before quoting. The composite deck and pergola came out exactly like the rendering.”

David & Priya M.

★★★★★

“Restoration on a 20-year-old cedar deck that two other companies told us to tear down. Timberland saved the frame and it looks brand new.”

Jonathan R.

★★★★★

“Fair, transparent, and genuinely craftsmen. The cable railings alone are a work of art.”
